President's Message
Kirk Lavoie

It has been a full year for the GBBC. Your board is building on this year's transitions and successes to create and even better 2004.

This year's full calendar included a variety of monthly meetings for members and guests, as well as annual events such as the Awards For Excellence and our summer time Harbor Cruise. This year's events also included a seminar on personal branding by international branding consultant and GBBC member William Arruda. We hosted a “mini business expo” as an introduction to a discussion on gay themed advertising. This discussion, sponsored by IBM, was presented by Michael Wilke of the Commercial Closet Foundation. The GBBC also had the honor of co-hosting, with the Gay and Lesbian Athletics Foundation, the kick off dinner to the first annual National Gay and Lesbian Athletics Conference.

The GBBC provides member advantages ranging from discounted group health, dental, and auto insurance. This year we added a long term care insurance product to our member advantages.

We are debuting our new membership management system. By moving to a new web-based system, we can provide members with the ability to manage their own details, view the calendar, register for events, read newsletters and “get connected” with other members. This new system will provide us tools to be more responsive and effective in meeting our mission.

Our corporate sponsorship program is taking hold. In 2003, Fleet & Raytheon became our first sponsors. Heading into 2004 we have added Sun and Gillette to our program.

2004 will be another great year for the GBBC. I congratulate our new board members and board president Tony Daniels on being elected to the board.

Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous 2004!

Sincerely,
