Letter from the President
Tony Daniels

Hello and Welcome to the GBBC On Line:

In my last letter I spoke about what a great year it has been for the organization. How the GBBC is all about Connections. Connecting you to your customers, prospects and community. In this weeks Business Spot Light was Rich Partiz from Promo Stuff (see In News weekly or our Membership News Page) where Rich highlighted the GBBC and the importance of connections.

I want to share with you, one of the many letters, e-mails and phone calls that I receive about how the our GBBC helped people connect. So rather then a letter FROM the President, here is a letter TO the President.

As always, I can not promote you if I do not know you. So make sure that YOU and I connect

Thank you and Best Wishes

Tony Daniels

Hi Tony!

I hope this email finds you well!

I've been meaning to get in touch with you for quite some time-- probably
as long as when your first article appeared in InNewsweekly! I wanted to tell you that I thought the article was extremely well-written and I was really impressed with how you've been working to reposition GBBC. I noticed now that your column appears to be a regular item and I think its great work to develop something that continues to validate the GBBC as professional GLBT organization!

I was unable to make it to the Boat Cruise this year but I heard it was yet again another wonderful time. This summer has proven to be a busy one for me. When I backed away from the GBBC to focus on growing my business, I never dreamed that a client of mine would pursue me pretty strongly to hire me! After much consideration and deep thought, I decided to accept their offer and close down my business. I will continue to do the occaisional assignment and keep tabs on existing clients but I now work full-time for
Keane, Inc. over in City Square. I am part of their Corporate Marketing/Communications team where I head up Interactive Design. As you well know from socializing with other GBBC members who have run their own business, it can be (and continues to be) a daunting task, wearing many hats just to keep things moving along. Keane is providing me an incredible opportunity to grow as an artist and explore new media and contribute to
building a solid brand.

What made this transition so interesting is that I was already familiar with the company and they were familiar with me from previous work. I got to liking the people there and realized that it would be a remarkable fit on many levels. One of the pieces in my portfolio that they enjoyed and were most interested in was the GBBC "Behind the Scenes" video from our infamous photoshoot a couple of years ago! :-) I thought you would like to
hear about that. It goes to show that when you least expect it, being part of a organization like GBBC can produce unforeseen positives in one's career... if one applies oneself to the effort. For me, producing the marketing campaign, the photoshoot and the video gave me the chance to flex my muscles a bit and be creative in a different, more all-encompassing way. I walked away from that campaign feeling really good about my personal efforts and I was pleased with that. I was now able to look at video production and say "I can do that". While I hoped the finished video would open some doors for other project work, I never expected it to open a door to a whole new career! :-)

I started my new job in July and was barely there a week before the Boat Cruise came along which was why I was unable to attend -- too caught up in getting settled and projects! It feels great to be working a "normal" 9-5 shift again and actually having that personal balance for "me" time that I was struggling for. Now I can explore my own personal interests and get back into doing photography and hmmm... maybe plan a real vacation! :-)

Anyway, I didn't mean to ramble on here! :-) I realize its been a while and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to drop a note to you with my new workcontact information. You can continue to email me at my business email at Dan Christianson Design. That won't go away for the foresseable future but its purpose may evolve to suit my endeavours as they are realized.

Would love to connect over coffee sometime to hear how things are going with GBBC. Aren't the Awards for Excellence coming up soon?
